LADYHAYE’S GUIDE TO TRANSPORTING YOUR PET TO NEW ZEALAND
Dogs and cats are not subject to any kennel quarantine on arrival in New Zealand. However, if necessary, quarantine centres are at: Auchland, Wellington and Christchurch. Certain formalities must be carried out prior to departure of your pet(s) from the UK with in a specific time scale. They are as follows:
1. Micro Chipping All dogs and cats must be Micro Chipped.
2. DEFRA Export Health Certificate The certificate has to be completed and signed by an LVI Veterinary Surgeon. We will arrange for DEFRA to send this to your nimonated vet 10 days prior to departure.
3. Vaccinations Dogs and Cats It is not a requirement to have your pet vaccinated prior to their departure from the UK. However, we would always recommend for your pets’ safety that they are up to date with their normal vaccinations. Please speak to your vet about this, as the Leptospirosis of the booster vaccination content should be left out as this can interfere with the blood test result
4. Blood Test (Dogs Only) All blood test must be sent to the Central Veterinary Laboratory, Weybridge, Surrey. Ladyhaye will send a vet schedule detailing the dates for the pre export testing.
Here is a list of tests that need to be carried out:
Faecal sample test Hookworm (Two faecal tests 14 days apart). Original test results must accompany your pet to New Zealand. ALL PETS must be treated for tapeworm and roundworm within 30 days prior to departure and at least 14 days apart Frontline within 21 days of departure.
